The ends of the line (Stringer 2)

In this class, we will focus on the end of your stringer line with my tips and methods for heat control, surface tension and erasing.

Stringer 2:

Designed to help you continue to build your fine stringer skill set, this course focuses on the ends of our stringer lines.  We'll focus on the smallest details of heat control while discussing techniques for avoiding balled up ends and consistently achieving clean blunt ends on our line work.  We'll also use surface tension to discover the joys of dragging our line terminations.  The graphic design possibilities for your new skill sets are virtually endless!

Prep work

Let's get ready to stringer!  Here we take a look at pulling our stringer long and straight while we become aware of "the zone"  of heat next to the flame.

One line at a time

Here we will explore each line, or end of a line, one at a time.  We'll draw end caps and lines all the way across long beads in both thick and thin stringer, exploring heat dynamics and a lot of things that can go wrong.  We'll discuss starting and stopping lines with clean blunt ends.  And we'll discuss tearing off and dragging out the ends of our lines with a fresh look at surface tension.
