Supplies and tools
The tools and supplies for this class are really basic and super flexible:
Tools :
• Something to pull stringer with – I like to use a pliers, you use what ever you are used to.
• You may also want a flat metal tool for small shaping adjustments (like Corina's magic wand, a Sersich shaper, or even just the back end of a tweezers). This is really handy to have, but not a necessity.
Glass/enamel Glass for making base beads
▪ When practicing stringer work, any glass will do for your base bead as long as you can still see the stringer you're working with
▪ For plaid beads, you can use any base color that's compatible with your other color choices and stringer color. I will use white glass, it's an easy way to show off any color and fine black lines. Glass for stringer practice
▪ I use a saturated black for my stringer work (Reichenbach deep black #9203). I encourage you to use any color you are comfortable with and you think looks great. For stringer practice, I strongly encourage you to use any color at all, especially if it is inexpensive, from your left over “shorts”, or just a color you have extra of. Glass for making color bands in plaid beads
▪ Any color that's compatible with your base and stringer color that you think will look nice is a great choice. The possibilities are limitless, enjoy exploring! Glass for end caps and outlining plaid beads
▪ I suggest a well saturated color for fine line stringer work. I use Reichenbach deep black #9203 but any saturated black you prefer to work with will work too. Be sure to explore a variety of colors. Optional enamel while practicing stringer
• If you have and use enamels already, they're really handy when practicing stringer. Consider covering your practice work with enamels to create a new “blank canvass” to keep practicing, instead of making a new bead to practice on.
